Community Service Hours

What is community service?

Community service, as we are defining it, is a voluntary action in which you--as an individual--wish to lend your time, body, and spirit, towards the betterment of the community. Community service is meant to foster the the participants' learning about larger social issues and an understanding of the reciprocal learning and service which can occur between students and community members.

What does NOT count as community service?

Any paid position, internship that you are currently a part of, course related work (i.e extra credit opportunities), or otherwise mandated service or org social. Barrio service or any service learning  class does not count, that is mandated service you are getting credit for.

  • Some internship may qualify as community service, you may petition these for confirmation.

  • Petitioned events are up to our committee' discretion.
